BLUES COME BACK TO EDGE NO. 9 WARRIORS

The Varsity Blues women’s rugby team scored five tries in the second half to secure a come-from-behind 34-29 victory over the No. 9 Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, October 1 in Waterloo, Ont.

Lee-Ann Corrigan scored two tries in leading the team to victory. Toronto natives Mercedes Mueller and Hannah Ehrehardt as well as veteran Stephanie Fox (Oakville, Ont.) and fifth-year transfer Jenna Livingston of Hillsburgh, Ont., each added single tries. Emily McNally added two converts in the win.

With the win, the Blues improve to 2-2 and remain in fourth place in the OUA Russell division.

Waterloo was led by third-year Natasha Vrablic (Cambridge, Ont.), who had two tries on the day. Waterloo’s Megan Colwell (Spencerville, Ont.) added nine points with two converts and a penalty goal.

The Varsity Blues return to action on Friday, October 7 when they host the Queen’s Gaels at the Varsity Centre. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
