BLUES COME FROM BEHIND TO EDGE WATERLOO

Alexandra Evanysnyn led the Varsity Blues field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, September 25 in Ottawa.

Down 2-1 with 25 minutes remaining, the Blues came from behind to pull out their fourth victory of the season.

Kaelan Watson of Richmond, B.C., opened the scoring when she blasted a shot on a penalty corner early in the game. A couple of Toronto errors would lead to two goals as the Warriors built a 2-1 lead at the half.

A first-year forward, Evanysnyn (Burlington, Ont.) evened the score when she received a pass in the circle, dribbled through a defender and charged the goalie to slip it into the empty net. Evanysnyn then made a great pass to second-year standout Natalie Provenzano of Richmond Hill, Ont., who put one past the Waterloo goaltender to complete the comeback win.

The Varsity Blues finish off their trip in Ottawa tomorrow with a game against the host Carleton Ravens at 10:30 a.m.
