WOMEN’S RUGBY FALLS TO MARAUDERS

The Varsity Blue travelled to Hamilton, Ont., on Saturday, September 18 to face off against the McMaster Marauders. Despite their best efforts, the Blues couldn’t hold back the Marauders and fell 26-0.

Both teams came away with strong victories in their season openers; the Blues dominated York 32-12 and the Marauders defeated Trent 41-19. Unfortunately for the Blues, McMaster managed to gain the lead this game and hold them off with a strong defensive strategy, not allowing the Blues to land a point.

Barrie, Ont., native Kristen Shedden, Kimberly Ngai (Markham), Margaret Cogger-Orr (Thornhill) and Natasha Turner of Rockcliffe, Ont. each had one try, while Rebecca Delaney (Caledon, Ont.) was an asset for McMaster, with three converts in the win.

The Blues hit the road again next Friday, September 24 when they take on the Trent Excalibur. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
