The Varsity Blues field hockey team continued their winning ways with an 8-0 victory over the host Queen’s Gaels on Sunday, October 17 in Kingston, Ont.
With the win, the Blues improve to 11-1 and sit tied with the Guelph Gryphons atop the OUA standings.
U of T unleashed their rookie corps, who went on to dominate the entire game. Veteran midfielder Hannah Tighe was a force to be reckoned with, jump starting the majority of Toronto’s offence on the day.
First-year forward Alex Thicke of North Vancouver, B.C., led the way with two goals, while Alexandra Evanysnyn, Kyesia O’Neale, Heather Haughn, Siobhan Gordan, Gabriella Permell and Yvonne Langen added single tallies in the win.
The Varsity Blues head into their last two games of the regular season when they travel to Waterloo, Ont., next Saturday, October 23 to take on the York Lions and host Warriors. Game times are scheduled for 12:30 and 4 p.m., respectively.
