The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s soccer team drew the Queen’s Gaels to a 0-0 tie on Sunday, September 6 at Varsity Centre.
The entire game proved to be a back-and-forth battle, as an aggressive Gaels squad kept the Blues on their toes. Despite a couple of good scoring chances, the game remained scoreless at the half.
Toronto looked as though they were going to go ahead when fourth-year striker Nordo Gooden (Kingston, JAM) hit the post in the 52nd minute. The Blues kept the pressure on throughout the remainder of the game but could not find a way past Gaels goalkeeper Sean Martin-Courtright (Calgary, Alta.).
The Varsity Blues return to action next Sunday, September 13 when they travel to Kingston, Ont. to take on the Queen’s Gaels. Game time is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
