TRENT TOPS TORONTO WOMEN'S RUGBY

The Varsity Blues women’s rugby team fell 21-5 to the visiting Trent Excalibur on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the University of Toronto’s Back Campus field.

The top scorer for the Excalibur was fly-half Kristine Boyles (Peterborough, Ont.) who raked in six points and a conversion. Other notable scorers were Jessica Cormier (Dunnville, Ont.), Lianne Schumacher (Lakefield, Ont.), and Rebecca Thompson who each scored five points and a try.

Trent gained the advantage in the first half, but the Blues put up a valiant effort and repeatedly held back the Excalibur’s advances. Hannah Ehrehardt (Toronto) had an impressive run and scored for the Blues, however, the visitors would answer back and ultimately take the game 21-5.

The Varsity Blues are back in action next Saturday, October 3, and will face the Queen’s Gaels at 1 p.m.
