MEN’S WATER POLO REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN OUA ACTION

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s water polo team continued their dominance of the OUA with a 22-2 victory over the Western Mustangs and a 26-3 win over the Queen’s Gaels on Saturday, November 14 at Carleton University.

In the first game of the day, the Mustangs couldn’t keep up with the Blues who pummelled them with shots throughout the game. Alan Chung (Ajax, Ont.), Luke Spooner (Aukland, Nz) and Calum Kendrick (Ottawa, Ont.) were all the high scorers of the game, each landing four goals on Western.

Yevgen Demindenok (London, Ont.) and Gregory Hoegy (Kitchener, Ont.) managed to sneak a goal past the Blues, however, for the rest of the game their defence was impenetrable and they continued to widen the gap.

Paulo Ruiz (Kitchener, Ont.), Tanner Regan (Surrey, B.C.) and Ian Weir (Stratford, Ont.) were up next for the Blues, scoring two goals apiece.

Toronto was equally as dominant in their second game of the day. Spooner was again a high scorer of with six goals , while Chung was not far behind with five.

Tanner Regan (Surrey, B.C.) and medical student Thomas Zochowski (Toronto,Ont.) scored another three points apiece for Toronto and served as excellent defenders.

Notably, Eric Jones, Bliss Man and Ian Pinchin each scored a point for the Gaels.

The Varsity Blues men’s water polo team return to the pool as they take on their rivals Carleton Ravens tomorrow (Nov. 15) at Carleton University. Game time is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
