MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS CARLETON, REMAIN TOPS IN OUA EAST

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s soccer team defeated the Carleton Ravens by a score of 2-1 in Ottawa on Friday, October 9.

Alexander Raphael (East York, Ont.) scored the only goal of the first half in the 35th minute, putting the Blues up 1-0. Scott Nesbitt of Scarborough, Ontario doubled the Blues’ lead, scoring in the 54th minute of the second half.

Jonni Okai (Ottawa, Ont.) made things interesting, bringing the Ravens within a goal as he found the net in the 68th minute of play. However, Carleton could not find the goal again, and the Blues went on to the 2-1 victory.

With the win, Toronto now has eight wins on the season and a total of 26 points as they sit atop the OUA East. With his sixth goal this season, Raphael is now tied for the OUA scoring lead.

You can catch the next Blues’ home game on Friday, October 16th, when Toronto plays host to the visiting Laurentian Voyageurs. Game time is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.
