The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s water polo team tied the defending OUA champion Carleton Ravens 8-8 before defeating the Queen’s Gaels 24-4 on Saturday, September 4 in Kingston, Ont.
Ryan Speers (Cambridge, Ont.) led the Blues with four goals against the Ravens, while first-year arts and science student Tanner Regan (Surrey, B.C.) netted two. Blues veteran Max Pottier (Kitchener, Ont.) and Cagri Illhan (Istanbul, TUR) tallied one each in the 8-8 tie.
Toronto broke loose and were simply unstoppable in the second game of the season.
Illhan and Ryan Pallett (Ancaster, Ont.) recorded five goals apiece and Pottier, Speers and Trevor Robinson (Scarborough, Ont.) each notched three in the 24-4 troucning of the Gaels.
The Varsity Blues men’s water polo team travels across town to face the York Lions on Thursday, October 9. The game is scheduled for 8:45 p.m.
