Team captain Kristen Shier scored four goals to lead the Varsity Blues field hockey team to an important 3-0 weekend as Toronto clinched second place and a bye into the semifinals at this weekend's OUA championship.

The North Vancouver, B.C. native scored two goals in a crucial 5-0 victory over the then third-place Waterloo Warriors on Saturday morning and added a single marker versus the McGill Martletts - a game that ultimately secured the second seed.

A fifth-year urban studies major, Shier went on to score the game-winner in what could be a preview of next week's OUA semi-final against the Western Mustangs on Sunday morning.   

Shier is currently tied for second in the OUA with 11 goals in 14 games.
