Third-year forward Tegan Stairs tallied a team-high three goals in leading the Varsity Blues to a CIS silver medal at the 2012 national field hockey championship this past weekend at the University of Toronto.

The Kitchener, Ont., native and 2012 CIS all-Canadian scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Victoria that punched Toronto’s ticket into the McCrae Cup final.

Stairs scored in two different games, while also assisting U of T’s lone goal in a 1-1 draw with the No. 1 and eventual champion UBC Thunderbirds.

The criminology major was recognized as a member of the CIS tournament XI for her offensive prowess over the weekend.

MBNA believes that with personal drive and the right kind of support, someone who thrives on the playground can one day ascend the podium.
