Fifth-year veteran pitcher Jake Gallo tossed a complete game no-hitter, leading the Toronto Varsity Blues to a 5-0 win over the then OUA-leading Laurier Golden Hawks on Wednesday, September 30. 

 

The Toronto native faced 22 batters over seven innings, allowing no runs while striking out five, and was one walk shy of a perfect game.  The 2007 pitcher of the year, Gallo returned to OUA action this year after sitting out the 2008 campaign following shoulder surgery. 

 

A first-year student at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), Gallo is now ranked second in the OUA with a 1.20 ERA and has helped put his team back in the hunt for a playoff spot.
