Fifth-year veteran Steffi Wong won the No. 2 singles flight in leading the Varsity Blues women’s tennis team to a silver-medal finish at the 2012 OUA championship this past weekend in Oshawa.
A Unionville, Ont., native, Wong defeated all of her opponents in straight sets to claim the title. Wong topped McMaster’s Lily Southcott 6-0, 6-0 in the first round before bettering Western’s Chantal Forristal 6-0, 6-2 in semi-final action.
The second-year dentistry student then defeated Montreal’s C. Wauthier 6-4, 6-3 to win the flight.
