Vanessa Treasure swept the individual medley events en route to a triple medal performance at the 2012 CIS swimming championships, February 23-25, in Montreal.

The second-year Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education student opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4:38.76.

A native of Mississauga, Ont., Treasure completed the sweep on Day 3, claiming the gold medal in the 200 IM in a time of 2:13.93.

She also added a bronze medal in the 200 butterfly (2:12.82) on Day 2.  Treasure was instrumental in Toronto’s women earning their second consecutive CIS bronze medal.

Rachel Jewett claimed the women’s pentathlon title and medalled two more times at the 2012 OUA track & field championships, Feb. 24-25, at York University.

The first-year competitor, Jewett ran a personal best 9.01 seconds in the 60m hurdles, and also placed first in the 800m and high jump en route to 3636-point finish, good for the gold medal.

The Toronto native followed that up with a bronze-medal placing in the women’s high jump competition on Day 2 of the meet, clearing a height of 1.69m.  To top it all off, Jewett was a member of Toronto’s 4x400 relay team break the previous OUA record of 3:49.29 by over five seconds on Saturday.
