Vanessa Treasure won the 200 IM, 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke, breaking meet records and meeting CIS standards in all three, as she led the Varsity Blues women’s swimming team to a come-from-behind 84-78 victory over the defending OUA champion Western Mustangs on Saturday afternoon.

 

A first-year swimmer from Mississauga, Ont., Treasure opened the meet with a dominant win in the 200 IM (2:19.23) and bettered three-time Olympian Marianne Limpert’s previous meet record of 2:19.56.

 

The physical education and health major then narrowly out-touched Mustangs Shannon Nell by one-tenth of a second (2:17.14) in the 200m butterfly before picking up her third gold medal of the meet in the 200m breastroke with a time of 2:36.49.

 

Treasure also helped Toronto to a silver-medal finish in the women’s 200 medley relay.
