BLUES OUT LAST PALADINS FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's rugby team earned their first win of the 2026 season, defeating the RMC Paladins 22-17 on Saturday (Sept. 26) afternoon at Varsity Stadium.

In a back-and-forth game with physicality on display, three different Blues players scored tries in the match. In a tight battle late, a try from second-year scrum half Luuk Ordeman and an interception on a kick by third-year back row Malcolm Austengarden were crucial moments in sealing the win for the Blue and White.

Along with Ordeman, also scoring tries for the Blues was second-year back row Johnny Chen and second-year political science and African studies student Arend Wasserman. Also chipping in offensively was third-year scrum half Yuta Takahashi who had a successful conversion. Meanwhile, third-year centre Liam Marshall also notched a successful conversion as well as a penalty goal.

For the Paladins, Donavan Dobson scored a game-high two tries and Connor Atkins also crossed the try line.

The Blues are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 3) afternoon when they take on the York Lions in Toronto. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
