The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's rugby team battled to a 28-28 tie versus the McMaster Marauders on Friday (Sept. 18) night in Hamilton.

A Friday night showdown under the lights, both the Blues and Marauders delivered physical play in the stalemate. A thrilling first half saw all the scoring including tries from fourth-year back row William Kavolec, fourth-year back three Petr Lin, third-year back row Malcolm Austgarden, and fifth-year prop Vijay Kuo. Third-year scrum half Yuta Takahashi was successful on all four converts for the Blues.

Tied 28-28 at the halftime break, both teams returned to the field and raised the level of physicality even further. Defence took over as neither side were able to cross the try line to break the deadlock throughout the entirety of the second half.

Now holding a 0-1-1 (W-L-T) record after the first two weeks of the season, Toronto next welcome the RMC Paladins to Varsity Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 26. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m., while tickets for the home contest are available at varsityblues.ca/tickets.
