*Varsity Blues women's soccer season preview, presented by Lebanese Garden*

After winning their first OUA Women's Soccer Championship in program history, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues will be looking to add a second to the record books during the 2026 campaign.

Entering the postseason as the top seed from the OUA East with a 9-2-1 (W-L-D) regular season last year, the Varsity Blues utilized their defensive identity to stifle Ottawa, Western, and Guelph en route to lifting the OUA banner. Big roster changes are ahead though as the 2025 squad featured six fifth-year seniors. With championship experience added to the returning group and another strong recruiting class, the defensive identity will surely be essential to another run at the top.

We have lost some strong senior players, so it will be really exciting to see some of the new young players and returning veterans step up to fill in those roles. It will be a huge challenge to defend our OUA title, but the whole team is looking forward to the challenge."

MARQUEE GAMES
August 29 vs. TMU
U of T opens their season with three straight home games at Varsity Stadium, beginning with this showdown versus downtown rival TMU. U of T holds a 23-3-7 overall advantage dating back to 2008, but two of the three TMU wins have come over the past two seasons. When these two meet, the pair always deliver entertainment for the crowd on hand.

September 20 vs. Trent
The lone home game set between five road contests for the Blues, Toronto will aim to enjoy this mid-September contest at Varsity Stadium. U of T are 7-1-1 in their last nine meetings with the Excalibur, including what turned out to be an exciting 3-2 win in Peterborough last season. In the second game of a home-and-home with Trent, it will be a crucial outing before three more long road trips begin.

October 18 at Ottawa
Toronto made their ascent to the top of the OUA after knocking off perennial powerhouse Ottawa in the quarter-final round last season. This year, the pair meet in the regular season finale in Ottawa, where the Gee-Gees will be looking to avenge that postseason loss. With a history of strong defence from Toronto and high-powered offence from Ottawa, the two teams will be looking for any advantage ahead of a potential OUA playoff run.
