The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell 69-53 to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday (Feb. 7) night in Waterloo, Ont.
The Golden Hawks managed to capitalize off of turnovers with five points. The Blues shook off the cold start and came on strong in the third quarter, forcing nine Golden Hawks turnovers and scoring eight points off of them. The Blues outscored Laurier 16-9 in the fourth quarter but weren't able to overcome the deficit before the final buzzer.
Toronto was led by fourth-year forward Janet Enge who had 15 points and six rebounds. She was followed by second-year guard Lia Barbieri with 11 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Second-year forward Diana Comsa added nine points and six rebounds, shooting 75 per cent from beyond the arc.
Laurier was led by Kate White with a game-high 20 points along with five rebounds. Maya Fuerth contributed 16 points and three steals.
Up next, the Blues will make the trip southbound in downtown Toronto to take on the TMU Bold on Wednesday (Feb. 11) night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on
