The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team ended their road trip with an 85-76 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday (Feb. 7) night in Waterloo, Ont.

Laurier came out strong in the first quarter but Toronto flipped the script in the second to gain momentum before halftime. The Blues were a dominating presence the paint with 14 points and grabbing 12 second-chance points compared to Laurier's two in the second quarter. Despite the Golden Hawks fighting back, the Blues shooting over 50 per cent from behind the arc and outrebounding Laurier 11-8 sealed the road win as they finished off strong in the fourth quarter.

Leading Toronto was second-year forward Simeon Jeffers with a game-high 27-point, 10-rebound double-double. Eight of Jeffers' rebounds were offensive rebounds. Fourth-year centre Nigel Hylton notched 18 points, eight rebounds, and two assists, shooting fifty percent from the beyond the arc. Third-year guard Nathan Bureau added eight points, eight rebounds, and two assists.

Liban Abdalla led Laurier with 24 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Meanwhile, Joshua Loblaw scored 14 points while shooting over 70 per cent from the field and added four assists.
