BLUES SCHOOL VOYAGEURS AT PACKED VARSITY STADIUM

The No. 6 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team earned a 6-0 win over the visiting Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday (Oct. 9) afternoon in front of over 1500 fans Varsity Stadium.

In a complete team effort, U of T saw five different players find the back of the net with third-year midfielder Emilija Lucic netting two goals and third-year forward Beatrice Audain notching a goal and an assist. U of T now holds a 7-2-1 (W-L-T) record and are in second-place in the OUA East standings and are three points behind the Ottawa Gee-Gees for top spot in the division.

With a loud crowd behind them, U of T got the fans on their feet with a Lucic goal in the 17th minute as the Maple, Ont., native swam around a defender to score the icebreaker. In the 19th minute, fourth-year defender Natasha Budisa took advantage of chaos in the box following a Blues corner, striking from distance to double the lead.

Toronto kept their foot on the gas pedal, as Audain flew down the wing, she set up third-year midfielder Kimee Liu in front of the goal for the social sciences student's fourth goal of the season. As the half winded down, Audain got back on the scoresheet with a goal on a class strike off a pass from fellow third-year forward Julia Cristovao. The Blue and White would strike from distance once again in the match with Lucic scoring her second goal of the matinee as U of T took a 5-0 lead into halftime.

The Blues continued to play a strong and disciplined game in the second half, keeping the control they had on the pace of play from the opening kick-off. In the 62nd minute, first-year defender Jessie Rickards struck from outside the box for her first goal in the OUA.

With a 6-0 lead, U of T stuck to their brand of soccer, shutting down the Voyageurs while first-year goalkeeper Neya Sidhu made two saves to earn her second clean sheet of the season.

The Blues will play their final home match of the 2026 regular season, honouring the graduating Blues on Saturday (Oct. 10) afternoon. Kick-off is scheduled for 12 p.m., with tickets available at varsityblues.ca/tickets. The game will also be live streamed on oua.tv.
