The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team drew the Guelph Gryphons 1-1 on Saturday (Oct. 3) afternoon in Guelph, Ont.
Following today's result, Toronto currently holds a 4-1-2 (W-L-T) record and sits in third-place in the OUA standings.
The Blues found themselves trailing early in the match when a seventh minute goal from Madison Martin gave the home team the advantage. Toronto began fighting back in the matinee, generating a chance of their own in the 13
th minute but goalkeeper Samantha Wright turned aside first-year midfielder Ellie Mullins' shot.
In search of an equalizer, the Blue and White controlled the pace of play, holding an advantage on penalty corners and shots on goal. In the fourth quarter, a 54
th minute goal from third-year forward Clara Leduc gave U of T the spark they needed to even the score. U of T began to push for the advantage before time expired, but the game was deadlocked at 1-1 at the final horn.
U of T will have a quick turnaround, hosting the McMaster Marauders at Back Campus Fields tomorrow (Oct. 4) afternoon. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
