BLUES SWEEP CARLTON INVITATIONAL

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's water polo team swept the Carleton Invitational, outscoring their opponents 60-39 across four games from Oct. 24-25 in the nation's capital.

The Blues played two games on Saturday, picking up a 15-7 win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees and a 16-12 win over the McMaster Marauders before claiming a 15-12 win over the Queen's Gaels and an 18-8 win over the host Carleton Ravens.

First-year attacker Liam Martens had a dominant weekend in the water. The engineering student from Regina was a force offensively with 15 goals across the four games. Third-year attacker Colin Thomas also shined over the weekend, scoring five goals against McMaster and nine throughout the invitational. Riley Springate and Omer Sayli each had seven goals through four games. Fourth-year Ali Sayli continued to make his presence felt for the Blue and White with a nine-save performance against Carleton.

Now, the Blues turn their attention to the Canadian University Water Polo Championships, hosted by the University of Toronto at Varsity Pool from Nov. 27-29. Live stats are available here.
