The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team enter the 2026-27 OUA regular season with a refreshed lineup and renewed energy.
Showing continued improvement, the Varsity Blues jumped from two wins in 2024-25 to six wins in 2025-26. This included two overtime wins which helped the transitioning U of T squad gain valuable resilience. Returning fifth-year OUA veteran Janet Enge, and seeing the emergence of second-year guards Gracelin Spenrath and third-year playmaker Diana Comsa, the trio will be leaned on to guide a young squad featuring eight first-year players. Along with a trip to Yellowknife for the North of 60 Classic during the preseason this fall, the Blues are ready to showcase a new level of chemistry and intensity inside Goldring Centre.

MARQUEE GAMES:
Oct. 30 at McMaster
Last season, the Blues earned wins in both contests versus the Marauders with both coming in dramatic overtime efforts. This Halloween weekend showdown in Hamilton will mark the first meeting since those exciting victories for Toronto. McMaster will no doubt be looking to avenge the 2025-26 losses, while the new-look Blues aim to show they can continue to battle to wins in every scenario.
Â
Nov. 4 vs TMU
The home-and-home Metro Hoops Classic begins inside Goldring Centre with this showdown between the rival Blues and Bold. Along with the measuring stick of competing against the defending OUA champions, this game will also serve as the first in a six-game early season home stretch for U of T. Home court will be vital as they will face-off against a number of top contenders during the homestand, making a strong showing in this first outing even more important.
Â
Jan. 9 vs Algoma
Taking place on the first weekend after the winter break, the Blues will be looking to build momentum for the second half of the season in this home game versus the Thunderbirds. Toronto hold a 10-2 advantage over Algoma dating back to 2014. A win will go a long way as U of T leave the heavy home schedule behind and will be on the road for four of the first five games in January.
