The University of Toronto Varsity Blues track and field team wrapped up Day 1 of the Can-Am Classic in Windsor, Ont., on Friday (Jan. 9) night.

Day 1 Results

The Blues women's track and field team garnered three top-three finishes on Day 1. In the 4x200m replay the team of Gloria Etim, Lecia Patrick, Paulina Procyk and Valorisse Badie finished in first-place out of 10 teams with a time of 1:42.72 to edge of the Windsor Lancers. Relay success continued for the Blue and White in the women's 4x800m as the veteran squad of Madelyn Bullock, Parker Hopkins, Kaitlyn Koyanagi and Julia Agostinelli placed second out of 13 teams with a time of 9:08.48. Individually, second-year diaspora and transnational studies student Maakor Okai finished in second-place in shot put with a distance of 12.64m.

Relay success continued for U of T on the men's side as the Blues had a pair of top-three finishes. Coming in second-place in a 15 team race in the men's 4x800m relay with a time of 7:44.89 was Moses Aidoo, Andrej Prekajski, Brandon Cidade and Nickolas Trieu. The quartet of Blues were narrowly edged out by the Lancers time of 7:44.59. In the 4x200m relay Toronto's Caiden Schultz, Logan Duley, Phikelela Moyo and Liam LeMay notched a third-place finish out of 14 teams, finishing the race in 1:30.83.
