University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey captain Mark Cooper received OUA athlete of the week honours for the period ending January 4, 2026.

In an offensive showcase at Varsity Arena on Sunday (Jan. 4), Cooper helped lift U of T to a 7-6 overtime victory in front of a raucous home crowd. The veteran defenceman delivered three assists in the victory, including setting up Sean Clarke's game-winning goal in the overtime frame. A stellar playmaker from the blueline, Cooper has tallied a point in three straight games and has inked his number on the scoresheet now in 12 of 16 games so far this season. He leads the OUA with 16 total assists and ranks second among all defenceman in U SPORTS.

The Varsity Blues men's hockey team remain at home next welcoming the Waterloo Warriors to Varsity Arena on Thursday (Jan. 8) night.
