BLUES STAY UNDEFEATED WITH WIN OVER WESTERN

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 6-1 win over the Western Mustangs on Sunday (Sept. 28) afternoon at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus.

The Blues won all three of the doubles matches to earn the first point of the day. In the opening round of doubles play, third-year social sciences student Anastasiya Dyadchenko and third-year pharmacology/immunology student Maria Popova were unstoppable, surrendering zero points in their match.

In singles action the Mustangs took the first match to even the score but a poised U of T team won five straight on their way to victory. First-year kinesiology student Ipek Battal capped off a strong day on the court for U of T winning in two sets, both by a score of 6-1. Third-year player Felina Yang also won her match in two sets.

The Blues are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 4) afternoon when they host McGill at UTSC. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
