The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's rugby team fell 38-7 on the road versus the Brock Badgers on Saturday (Sept. 27) afternoon in St. Catharines.
An always physical match-up between the Blues and Badgers, both teams were able to get on the board early. Brock opened the scoring in front of the home crowd in the fifth minute of action. However, U of T were able to respond courtesy a Malcolm Austgaarden try in the 19h minute. With a successful conversion from Yuta Takahashi, Toronto carried a 7-5 lead late into the first half.
Following the break though, the Badgers were able to score several unanswered tries in the second half to pull away, while also adding four successful conversions.
Prior to the start of the contest, the Blues donned orange shirts in recognition of the upcoming Truth and Reconciliation Day. The Survivors' Flag is flying across all three University of Toronto campuses, while a university-wide commemoration will be held at Hart House on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
