The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team defeated the York Lions 4-0 in an exhibition game on Saturday (Sept. 20) night in Toronto, Ont.
Third-year goalie Carlee Vance earned a shutout in her first start of the preseason.
After a scoreless first period the Blues struck first in the middle frame as fifth-year forward Kassidy McCarthy found the back of the net to break the deadlock. U of T added to their lead, capitalizing on a five-on-three power play as third-year forward Taylor Delahey's maker gave the Blue and White a 2-0 advantage going into the second intermission.
In the third period U of T added to their season as first-year forward Emma Lamber continued her hot start to the preseason with her third goal in the team's first three games. Second-year forward Scarlett Jones added to Toronto's total, icing the game late with an empty net goal.
The Blues will be back in action on Friday (Sept. 26) night when they host the Windsor Lancers at Varsity Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. with tickets available at
