The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's tennis team defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees 7-0 on Saturday (Sept. 13) afternoon at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus.
The Blues earned the victory in two of three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day. Toronto won all six singles matches to secure the 7-0 win on their home court. The Blues were impressive in their singles wins with third-year player's Veronika Podobedo, Noelle Vanasse Wilbert and Felina Yang as well as second-year business administration student Kaira Xuan and first-year computer engineering student Katherine Zhang all held their opponents scoreless in at least one set. Third-year social sciences student Anastasiya Dyadchenko won her match in two sets. Dyadchenko along with third-year Maria Popova and the duo of Podobedo and Barbora Zaviskova won their doubles matches.
U of T is back on the court at UTSC on Sunday (Sept. 14) afternoon when they take on the Queen's Gaels. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m.
