BLUES DROP HARD FOUGHT MATCH TO RMC

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's rugby team fell 31-22 to the RMC Paladins on Saturday (Sept. 13) afternoon in Kingston, Ont.

The Blues found themselves trailing by 12 in the first half but a 35th minute try from third-year back three Petr Lin got U of T on the scoreboard with the try and successful conversion.

In the second half RMC added a try in the 41st minute but Toronto responded less than three minutes later with a try of their own from third-year back three Ruaidhri Neville. A penalty kick converted by second-year scrum half Yuta Takahashi tied the game at 17 in the 49th minute.

RMC pulled ahead late in the game with two tries. U of T made a push as the game approached its conclusion as Neville scored his second try of the game, cutting the lead to 31-22 in the 75th minute. Despite the push the Blues fell to 1-1 on the season with the loss.

Takahashi had two conversions in the game.

The Blues next match is on Saturday (Sept. 20) afternoon when they host the Guelph Gryphons at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
