The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team swept the RMC Paladins 3-0 on Friday (Feb. 14) night in Kingston, Ont. The Blues dominated the match the whole way through, securing the win with set scores of 25-15, 25-10, and 25-16.
Toronto showcased their offensive efficiency with 40 kills and a .313 hitting percentage while limiting RMC to just 18 kills and a .067 efficiency. The Blues put on a show defensively, recording 56 digs and five blocks to ensure the Paladins would struggle with generating any sustained offensive momentum.
Julia Murmann led the charge with a stellar 20 kill performance, hitting .439 while adding six digs and one block. Olivia Zhu contributed eight kills and 10 digs, while Natalia Souza was a key all-around performer with eight kills, 12 digs, and four service aces. Robin Melnick kept the offense flowing with 23 assists and eight digs, while Delaney Watson anchored the back row with 15 digs.
Ashley Raymond and Elisa Markentin each tallied six kills for RMC.
The Blues close out their regular season with a quick turnaround as they face the Paladins at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Feb. 15) in Kingston, Ont.
