Tthe University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team fell to the Guelph Gryphons 3-0 in a tough match on Saturday (Feb. 1) at Goldring Centre. Despite a strong effort, the Blues were unable to overcome Guelph's attack, with set scores of 25-22, 25-18, and 25-23.
Toronto registered 30 kills and a .139 hitting percentage while the Gryphons tallied 52 kills with a .279 efficiency. The Blues posted 48 digs in the game, but Guelph's offensive execution proved to be the difference.
Julia Murmann led the Blues with 12 kills, seven digs, and a .211 hitting percentage, while Julia Liu followed with nine kills and 11 digs. Setter Robin Melnick recorded 23 assists and four digs, while libero Delaney Watson played a key role defensively with 20 digs.
For the Gryphons, Jordan Vang was dominant with 14 kills and a .379 hitting percentage, while Briar Crerar added 12 kills and 11 digs. Setter Alexa Shields had 42 assists and 10 digs.
The Blues will look to bounce back in their next match as they prepare for a showdown against the Trent Excalibur next weekend (Feb. 7-8). First serve on Friday (Feb. 7) night is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tickets for Varsity Blues home games are available at
