BALLOUT DROPS 32 POINTS ON MCMASTER

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team defeated the McMaster Marauders 93-83 on Saturday (Nov. 8) night at Goldring Centre - Kimel Family Field House. 

The Blues put their foot on the gas pedal and never looked back from opening tip-off grabbing a 10-point lead after the first quarter. U of T shot an impressive 48 per cent on field goals and shot 42 per cent on three-pointers. Defensively, Toronto nabbed 30 defensive rebounds to McMaster's 26 and notched nine steals and five blocks. 

Leading the way offensively for U of T was first-year guard Mikey Ballout with 32 points while shooting 63 per cent on field goals and 50 per cent from three. 20 of Ballout's points came in the first half. Simeon Jeffers, Nigel Hylton and Rohan Scott-Smith all reached the double digit point plateau for Toronto was 19, 17 and 14 respectively. Devensively, Hilton and second-year centre Panashe Dumbu each had a team-high eight reounds. Meanwhile, second-year guard Carl Emmaneuel Cleophat had a block and two steals. 

For McMaster, Tyler Garcia had a team-high 20 points. Ares Cully-Bremner had a double-double with a game-high 10 rebound and 12 points.

Up next for the Blues is a road contest against the York Lions. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m., and the game can be streamed live on oua.tv.
