The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell 70-66 to the Brock Badgers at Goldring Centre – Kimel Family Field House on Friday (Nov. 7) night.
The Blues struggled offensively in the first half, shooting just 33% in contrast to the Badgers' 46%. Coupled with their nine turnovers, Toronto ended the half down nine points. The Blues came out blazing in the second half, outscoring Brock and going on an 8-0 run in the fourth to take the lead. Tied with just three minutes left, Toronto was unable to finish their push.
The Blues were led by second-year guard Lia Barbieri, who notched an impressive 20-point 10-rebound double-double, shooting 40 per cent from three. Second-year centre Zi Yang Wang contributed an efficient 13-point 12-rebound double-double, shooting 66 per cent from the field. Fourth-year forward Janet Enge added 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Brock was led by duo Shailah Adams, who notched 20 points on 50 per cent shooting, and Madalyn Weinert with 17 points and six rebounds.
