EISEN SHINES IN BLUES DAY 2 VICTORY

The No. 3 seed University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team defeated the No. 7 seed McMaster Marauders 2-0 in the U SPORTS consolation semifinal on Friday (Nov. 7) afternoon at Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton.

With the win, the Blues will hit the pitch against the Cape Breton Capers on Saturday (Nov. 7) afternoon at Ron Joyce Stadium in the U SPORTS consolation final. Kick-off for that game is at 5 p.m. The game can be streamed live on CBC Sports digital platforms.

Facing off against the tournament hosts, the Blues were able to take the crowd out of the game in the 24th minute. Fifth-year defender Devon Eisen received a pass down the wing and quickly sent the ball to second-year midfielder Emilija Lucic. The Ottawa native fired a shot from 22 yards out and into the top left corner of the net.
Eisen continued her strong play with a goal in the 56th minute. The biomechanics student fired a corner kick that beat Marauders goalkeeper Lucy Duffy to double the U of T lead. With a goal and an assist, Eisen earned player of the match honours with a goal and an assist.

As McMaster pushed the ball of the pitch, looking to get on the scoreboard, the veteran defensive core of the Blue and White showed why they are one of the strongest groups in the country, keeping McMaster's offence at bay in a complete 90-minute effort.

Third-year goalkeeper Juliana Ottoni made five saves to earn a clean sheet on the national stage.
