The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team traveled to Algoma University on Friday (Nov. 21) night, showing out with a dominating 83-54 win over the Thunderbirds.

The Blues came out blazing with an impressive 18-1 run in the first quarter, holding Algoma to just 9.5 percent shooting. The Thunderbirds clawed their way back, outscoring Toronto in the second. However, U of T's dominance in the paint allowed the Blues to outscore Algoma 40-14 in points in the paint through the full four quarters. The 29-point win marks the largest margin of victory for Toronto this season, lifting their record to 5-4 to keep within reach of the top of the OUA Central standings.

Leading the Blues was second-year guard Rohan Scott-Smith with a near triple-double, notching 16 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists. Fourth-year forward Nigel Hylton put up a game and season-high 18 points and 17 rebounds, with first-year guard Mikey Ballout adding 16 points, 9 rebounds and three assists.

Algoma was led by Kal-El Alejo with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists.Â
