BLUES BESTED BY BOLD AT GOLDRING

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell 101-60 to the No. 3 nationally ranked TMU Bold on Sunday (Nov. 2) afternoon at Goldring Centre – Kimel Family Field House.

U of T struggled with three-pointers in the first quarter but were able to write the ship going into halftime, shooting 43 per cent from beyond the line. Toronto's best play on offence came in the second quarter when fourth-year forward Ryan Rudnick threw up a lob that was dunked by second-year centre Panashe Dumbu. TMU's offence was strong, shooting 52 per cent on field goals and 48 per cent on threes. The Blues nabbed 34 rebounds and forced 15 turnovers through four quarters of play.

First-year guard Mikey Ballout lived up to his name with 11 points and shot 33 per cent from beyond the three-point line. Second-year guard Rohan Scott-Smith also notched double digit points and had a team-high five assists. Panashe was stellar on defence was eight rebounds and a game-high three blocks.

For the Bold, Aaron Rhooms and Gabriel Gutsmore each had 27 points and shot over 50 per cent from the three-point line. Rhooms notched a double-double, adding 10 rebounds to his stat-line.

The Blues are back in action on Friday (Nov. 7) night when they host the Brock Badgers at Goldring Centre – Kimel Family Field House. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m., with tickets available at varsityblues.ca/tickets. The game will also be streamed live on oua.tv.
