The University of Toronto men's volleyball team competed in three exhibition matches across three days at the Windsor Tournament this weekend in Windsor.
Getting a chance to compete against two Canada West teams, the Blues fell 3-1 in their tournament opener on Friday (Oct. 3) night versus Alberta. Set scores in the match were 25-23, 21-25, 24-26, 17-25. Three different Blues in Iannis Toma, Maxime Gratton and Hunter Arulpragasam reached double-digit points in the four set contest. Toma led the way wth a team-high 17 from 15 kills and four block assists, while setter Michael Hickey registered both 30 assists in guiding the offence and a game-high 11 digs defensively.
Shifting to Game 2 of the weekend, U of T dropped a 3-0 decision against Saskatchewan on Saturday (Oct. 4). Set scores for the match were 18-25, 22-25, 24-26. Through the final two sets of the match, Gratton notched six kills, two service aces and one block assist to showcase a strong all-around effort. Libero Rylan Armstrong added seven digs through the final two sets as well.
Toronto closed out the weekend with a 3-0 loss to the host Windsor Lancers on Sunday (Oct. 5). Set scores for the match were 22-25, 23-25, 18-25.
The Blues will host one more preseason contest welcoming the York Lions to Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House on Saturday, Oct. 18. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m., with tickets available at
