University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball alumnus Martin Licht will represent Team Canada at the 2026 FISU World University Championship Beach Sports in Figueira da Foz, Portugal., from Sept. 17-22. 

Licht was a member of the men's volleyball team from 2019-23, appearing in 71 sets over 27 matches and registering 119.5 points while dawning the Blue and White. The Toronto native was a key contributor in the Blues qualifying for the U SPORTS Men's Volleyball Championship in all three seasons he took the court.

The engineering graduate is no stranger to the national stage. Licht is a member of Volleyball Canada's Beach NextGen team. He also has previous national team experience, earning a silver medal at the 18U Canadian beach volleyball championship and represented Canada at the U19 world beach volleyball championships.

Licht will compete alongside Guelph Gryphons alumnus Cameron Chadwick at the 2026 games as the pair prepares to take the court on Thursday, Sept. 17.
