AGOSTINELLI CLAIMS OUA SILVER; BLUES WOMEN FINISH SIXTH AND MEN PLACE SEVENTH

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues cross country teams captured an individual medal and two Top 7 team finishes at the 2025 OUA Championships in Kingston on Saturday (Oct. 25) morning.

Fifth-year standout Julia Agostinelli added another medal and OUA first team all-star honour to her career tally, earning OUA silver in the women's 8km race. The Physical Therapy major crossed the line in a time of 27:39.2 to claim the second step on the provincial podium.

Toronto saw four more Blues place in the Top 50 of the 127-person field. Fourth-year veteran Sarah White posted a time of 29:26.9 to finish in 28th. Rounding out the Top 5 for Toronto runners was Kaitlyn Koyanagi in 40th (30:32.0), Claire Nolet in 42nd (30:35.2) and Madison Sparkman n 49th (31:00.7).

The U of T women placed sixth overall in the team standings.

Fourth-year law major Nima Ashtari produced the best result for the U of T men earning a Top 20 finish in the 135-person field. Ashtari placed 19th among all runners, crossing the line in 24.41.6. The result also marks a one minute improvement for Ashtari on his previous appearance at the provincial showcase.

Delivering consistency, the Toronto men also saw four more Blues place in the Top 50. Second-year standout Andrej Prekajski was second to cross the line for U of T, placing 34th with a time of 25:14.5. The next trio included Brandon Cidade in 41st (25:36.4), Jacob McLean in 46th (25:46.0) and Jack O'Connell in 49th (25:49.8).

The U of T men placed seventh overall in the team standings.
