The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team ended a Saturday afternoon clash with a 0-0 draw against the York Lions at Back Campus Fields.
In a clash between the top two teams in the OUA East, U of T and York exchanged chances through 60 minutes of play. The two teams played with high intensity as the Blues pushed the ball up the field to put York's defence on their heals and the defence stood tall in limiting York's counter attack.Â
In the fourth quarter the Lions had a chance to score the icebreaker but first-year goalkeeper Mary Yang showed why she is one of the best backstops in the OUA as she stretched out to make the save and keep the game scoreless.
Yang secured earned another clean sheet for Toronto, marking the sixth consecutive game that she hasn't conceded a goal against.
The Blues and Lions hit the field once again in the regular season finale tomorrow (Oct. 19) afternoon at York University. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
