TORONTO DROPS SEASON OPENER ON THE ROAD IN KINGSTON

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's rugby team opened their 2024 campaign on the road in Kingston, falling by a final score of 105-0 on Saturday (Sept. 7) night.

Facing off against the 2023 OUA championship finalist Gaels, U of T were in for tough sledding against the stiff opponent. Spurred on by the home crowd, the Gaels were quick to tally the first marker of the game, while continuing to take advantage of defensive gaps for long field-shifting runs. Despite the result, the Blues saw strong defensive efforts from veterans Eric Vann and Jackey Kuang, while also featuring a number of new faces in the lineup throughout the 80-minute contest.

The Blues will hope for a better result on home turf as they next welcome the Brock Badgers to Varsity Stadium on Sunday, September 15. Kick-off for the U of T home opener is set for 1 p.m.
