BLUES OPEN SEASON AT WESTERN INVITATIONAL REGATTA

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's and women's rowing teams traveled to London, Ont., for the Western Invitational on Saturday, September 21.

In the Lightweight Women's Single, Daniella Caldwell rowed to an impressive second-place finish, while Roksolana Nazar matched her podium success in the Heavyweight Women's Single, also claiming second.

The Lightweight Women's Double, featuring Elena Eberhart and Sophie Corradini, rowed to a strong second-place finish, with the Blues Lightweight Women's Four of Elena Eberhart, Guin Reaume, Yun Kong, Sophie Corradini, and cox Katy Myler earning another second-place result.

Toronto's Heavyweight Women's Eight crew, consisting of Bianca Hill, Jane Paterson, Dahlia Rostom, Maia Stelfox, Fortune David, Sarah Armstrong, Mia Penney, Vanessa Lin, and cox Emily Boeva, finished a close second, showcasing the team's power and synchronization.

The Heavyweight Women's Pair of Emily Thompson and Vanessa Lin battled hard to finish in fifth place, while the Heavyweight Women's Four crew of Maia Stelfox, Bianca Hill, Sarah Armstrong, Dahlia Rostom, and cox Elizabeth Yeoh secured fourth.

On the men's side, the Heavyweight Men's Double crew of Jack Bon and Noah Campbell finished third, and the Lightweight Men's Eight, coxed by Peter Hansen and rowed by Youssef El-Mays, John McDonald, Yechan Kim, Lysander Weekes, Kenny Kimmins, Liam McFarland, Charles Ding, and Shaan Jain, claimed third place.

Several other crews delivered strong efforts, including the Lightweight Women's Pair of Daniella Caldwell and Olivia Ruffolo, who finished fourth, and the Lightweight Women's Double of Guin Reaume and Yun Kong, who finished ffth.

The Blues men's team also saw Lysander Weekes take sixth in the Lightweight Men's Single, while Noah Campbell finished fifth in the Heavyweight Men's Single. The Heavyweight Men's Four of Sebastien Psarianos, Kamal Elboghdadi, Kalan Couch, Jack Bon, and cox Katy Myler placed fourth, as did the Heavyweight Men's Eight of Sebastien Psarianos, Jack Bon, Kalan Couch, Kamal Elboghdadi, Noah Campbell, Devansh Singhi, Simon Bettle, Orlando Weekes, and cox Jack Edwards.

The Blues are back in action on Saturday, October 5 when they travel to Peterborough, Ont., for the Head of the Trent.
