The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team tied the Carleton Ravens 2-2 on Friday (Sept. 20) evening at Taag Field in Ottawa.
The two teams remained evenly matched during the entirety of the first half. The perseverance paid off for the Blues in the final minute of the half, when a penalty was earned. Blues captain Hannah Chown capitalized off this opportunity converting the penalty kick, propelling the Toronto to a lead of 1-0.
The Blues came out strong to start the second half. Blues veteran forward Anne Yeomans doubled the Blues lead off a ball pushed through the Carleton defence by second-year forward Natasha Budisa. The rest of the game saw the pressure mount for the Blues as the Ravens gained an edge and tied the game 2-2. Despite the Blues best efforts, Ravens goalkeeper Chloé Lachance-Soulard turned aside their attempts.
Toronto will look to get back in the win column as they take the field in Ottawa again tomorrow (Sept. 21) afternoon against the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees at the Gee-Gees Field. Kick off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
