University of Toronto Varsity Blues alumna Lucia Stafford won her third Canadian women's 1500m title to earn her ticket to Paris at the 2024 Bell Trials on Sunday afternoon in Montreal.
 
Stafford, U of T's 2019-20 T-Holders' women's athlete of the year, will head to her second consecutive Olympic Games. The Toronto native was a semifinalist in the 1500m in Tokyo three years ago.
 
Stafford clocked a time of 4:10.14 to win the Canadian title, over two seconds ahead of Kate Current of London Western Track & Field Club (4:12.62).
 
She will join former Blues teammate Jazz Shukla, who qualified for her first Olympic Games in the 800m last night, on Team Canada's roster.
