The University of Toronto Varsity Blues cross country and track and field alumni sisters, Lucia Stafford and Gabriela DeBues-Stafford, delivered another set of stellar performances as part of Team Canada at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Competing in Glasgow, Scotland last week, Lucia captured a fourth-place finish overall in the women's mile. After qualifying for the event final following a strong first round run on Thursday, Lucia crossed the line in a time of 4:40.46 on Friday evening to earn a Top 4 result at the international showcase.

Meanwhile, older sister Gabriela took to the track for the women's 5000 metre. Finishing the grueling race in 14^th overall, Gabriela posted a season best time of 15:09.66.

Both Stafford sisters have previously represented Canada at multiple international competitions including the Olympic Games. Gabriela attended both the 2016 Rio Games and 2020 Tokyo Games, while Lucia competed at the 2020 Tokyo Games and 2024 Paris Games.
