In a thrilling four-set match, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team defeated the Brock Badgers 3-1 on Friday night (Nov. 8) at Goldring Centre.
Toronto's balanced offense and resilient defense were instrumental, as they recorded a team kill percentage of .147 with 50 kills. The Blues displayed strong playmaking skills, with multiple players contributing crucial points in the 27-25, 10-25, 25-23, 25-19 victory.
Fourth-year outside hitter Julia Murmann led Toronto's offense with 14 kills and added 18 digs, while Olivia Zhu showcased her efficiency with a team-high hitting percentage of .353, tallying 16 kills. Setter Robin Melnick was pivotal in facilitating the attack, recording 40 assists and delivering three aces. Libero Delaney Watson anchored the defense with 17 digs, consistently thwarting Brock's offensive efforts.
For the Badgers, Emily Foest was a standout, leading all players with 21 kills and contributing eight digs. Laurin Ainsworth and Sadie Dick also made an impact with nine and 11 kills, respectively.
