The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team were in tough on Wednesday (Nov. 13) night at Goldring Centre, falling 75-39 against the visiting Windsor Lancers.
Battling from behind for a majority of the match, the Varsity Blues were led offensively by the duo of first-year guard Lia Barbieri and second-year forward Jade Diwandja Djemba, with each scoring eight points. Djemba also led the Blues in rebounds with nine, including three offensive boards, while her defensive energy included two blocks and two steals. From the bench, forwards Sienna Caesar and Zi Yang Wang were hard at work on the boards, grabbing nine and eight, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Lancers saw Leah Tate leading the charge, scoring a game-high 17 points in 18 minutes of action. Both Julia Chiarot and Jade Hunte added 10 off the bench for Windsor.
