BLUES DOWN LIONS IN BATTLE OF T.O.

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team moved into first place in the OUA East division following a 1-0 victory over the York Lions on Wednesday night (Oct. 9) at Back Campus Fields.

The undefeated Blues improve to 6-0-1, handing the now 6-1 Lions their first loss of the season.

After a scoreless first quarter, second-year forward Jayden Novak notched what would stand as the game-winner with less than four minutes to go in the half.

The Blues outshot the Lions 11-3 and earned 5 penalty corners to York's one.

Deepi Gill earned the shutout victory for the Blues.

The two teams will meet again this Sunday, October 13 as U of T travels north of the city to take on the Lions at 1 p.m.
